“At one magical instant in your early childhood, the page of a book—that string of confused, alien ciphers—shivered into meaning. Words spoke to you, gave up their secrets; at that moment, whole universes opened. You became, irrevocably, a reader.” –Alberto Manguel

Void Within

“We become aware of the void as we fill it.” ―Antonio Porchia

With fleeting thoughts and monologues;

lost; under the azure sky I lie,
when old memories bring smile and tears;
I can feel that yawning ache and cry.

Absorbed in the silence;
can hear my heartbeat echoing loud,
thinking of my dreams come true;
searching my identity in the crowd.

This battle of me versus myself;
with all the hope I try to win,
blaming the misfortunes;
leaving me void within.

On the joke of uncertainty;
I try to laugh my fears out,
dare to walk the lane of memory;
wondering, this is what life’s all about.

Seen my own shadow leaving me;
as I was losing myself to darkness,
dragging myself back to life;
aware of the chances, so less.

This battle of me versus myself;
with all the hope I try to win,
blaming the misfortunes;
leaving me void within.
